Best Seller Books: Just Friends Review

I am not generally a fan of BDSM. I find detailed descriptions of the rules and regulations of BDSM clubs extremely boring and tedious, and it's hard for me to take the hard-core scenes seriously with all the control and counting and whatnot. Serious BDSM books just make me giggle. Immature? Maybe (ok, yes), but at least I know what does and does not work for me in my reading.

I can't remember where I first saw this little gem from Anne Thomas, but the description stuck with me and I had a feeling it would be a great book even despite the mention of a BDSM club. I love it when a "hunch" delivers!

Grant and Eli are great characters. Grant is strong and sexy and extremely dominant, but he's also sweet and kind and scarred from a past relationship that went wrong. Eli knows that he wants to be more than just friends with Grant, and is willing to do whatever it takes to convince Grant that they should be together, even if it means entering into a lifestyle that is completely unfamiliar and even a little intimidating.

The two men don't spend much time in the BDSM club and there's only a couple of pages of "rules and regulations" (and the way Grant spells out the rules is actually really hot), so I'd rate this book as "BDSM-Lite", which actually works for me. I really enjoy light bondage, spanking, and D/s in my M/M romance when it's not bogged down by boring stuff like detailed lifestyle descriptions and crack psychology. The love scenes in this book are emotional and unbelievably steamy. Grant's awe and wonder at Eli's responses to him are sweet and sexy, and Eli's inner dialogue is smoking hot.

This book also employs one of my favorite character roles--the naturally dominant male that is willing to submit to the one he loves. I love to read about tops that are only willing to bottom for that one special man.

I don't know how to explain it, but everything in this book just worked really well for me. This is romance, so the boys do get their HEA, but the resolution is more tender than you'd expect in a BDSM-themed book and the way it happens is somewhat surprising. I love seeing the different facets of Eli's and Grant's personalities.

This is a great book, whether you like BDSM themes or not. The men are sexy, the love scenes are hot, and the romance is sweet. For just over $3, this book is pretty hard to beat. I only wish it had been about a hundred pages longer. I'd love to get to know these boys better.
